ADVANCED BAG-IN-BOX SYSTEM FOR COCA-COLA®
OCTOBER 2005

Rapak has successfully installed four new filling machines for Coca-Cola Enterprises in Milton Keynes, creating one of the most advanced Bag-in-Box systems in Europe.

2 high-speed servo driven Autokap™ Fully Automatic Fillers and 2 Autokap™ Bulk Fillers have been linked to Coca-Cola's process control system. The benefits are considerable, including:

  • The ability to produce 10 litre and 20 litre bags of post mix syrup at a rate of over 12 and 9 bags per minute respectively
  • Significant reduction in downtime by means of quick change bag into box loaders; the rotating ‘back to back' load chute features 'quick connect' technology that has shortened the time it takes to change from 10 to 20 litre packs to less than three minutes!
  • Bulk filling of Arca 250 litre boxes at a rate of 1 bag every 2 minutes per filler; these new Arca boxes have been introduced to ensure reliable automatic filling into bulk containers, normally a very labour intensive packing process

"We were delighted with the way that Rapak has handled this whole project," comments John Laho, Engineering Manager at the Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd Milton Keynes facility "The result is one of the most advanced Bag-in-Box systems in Europe."
